Fireworks
How are you?
I took my walk at the park this morning, and wanted to be in the woods, so I took the trail up the ridge. It was muddy and there were lots of fallen trees on the path, but it was really quiet, and I enjoyed it up there. My usual route was sort of crowded with runners, so I'm glad I went the other way.
Some pictures from the walk:
It was a pretty good day for interesting fungi.
The top of the ridge.

Huge recently fallen tree.
Another sign of pileated woodpeckers.
Bluebird!
Snowdrops!
So, you know at fireworks shows, how they start off slowly, like one explosion at a time with a pause between each one? And then at the end, there's the Grand Finale, and it's just a barrage of fireworks kind of all at once? That's how watching Star Trek has been. The nazi episode...BOOM! The one with the American flag...BANG! The cult...POW! you get the idea. Well, last night's episode was like the grand finale. There was a botanical disease that was going to wipe out all the life on one planet, meanwhile there were sub-plots about slavery, cognitive disabilities, huge class disparities, violent uprisings, anti-masking(!), distrusting science, BOOM BANG BOOM POW POW BANG! And there are still a few episodes to go in Season Three. It's spooky.
Anyway, I got exactly 4 miles in this morning. And there were ring necked ducks on the pond when I got back to my car, but they were too far away for pictures.A whole bunch of people called his office, and he walked it back, which is a step in the right direction.
Today, I'm sending a thank you note to Rep. Green for making good trouble at the joint address on Tuesday. Google it if you don't know what he did. We need more of that. Gun reform activist Shannon Watts recently posted "Democracy dies in decorum." Shannon Watts is right.
