Fog

Hi everybody.

How are you?

It's OK if you need a minute to think about your answer. Because 😩.

This morning, I took a nice long walk in the fog. Fog is my favorite for taking pictures, and fog+snow is extra cool. Here are some scenes from my walk:

I like that I know some of the trees. Just like knowing the birds, it makes the walk better somehow. This is Catalpa.
Sweetgum.
Not sure about this one. Some kind of maple.
Beech.
and Ginkgo.
Last night, I almost had a panic attack, but walking this morning was the best medicine. AND there was an unexpected surprise.

My favorite trail, which has been closed for months because it was taken over by a huge Harry Potter exhibit thing, is finally open again. I almost started crying when I saw that the barriers were gone.
Have you ever let out your breath when you didn't even realize you were holding it? That's how it felt walking into the woods on that trail this morning. It was so quiet in there.
I love how the beech leaves stand out in all of the gray.

The deer tracks look like hearts.
I saw a fox, but he was too fast for me. I heard the ravens again, too. Two of them calling to each other.

Unfortunately, I wasn't wearing the right shoes for my unplanned trek through the woods, so my feet got soaked and I had to turn around. But I cannot wait for tomorrow.

Trump and Musk are doing their best to ruin a lot of things, but they can't take this away from me.

They also can't take away good friends that text to check on me or others who bring me homemade cookies.
We're in for a long period of uncertainty. No one lets go of anyone's hand.

It's easy to focus on all of the terrible things, but good things happen every day. In Germany, a whole bunch of American middle school children staged a walkout during a visit from Pete Hegseth, and he was booed there by some of the military families. ✊

Rufus' toy of the day is his caterpillar.

This is what we had for dinner last night. Next time, I'll add some mushrooms. We have lots of leftovers now, so I won't have to cook much this weekend. So there are always small things we can find to be happy about.

Onward.
